Income Tax Information

 

The City income tax rate is 1.0% which was established by Milford’s Codified Ordinance section 181.03. Milford does not allow a credit for taxes paid to another city per the Codified Ordinance section 181.08.

 

The City has mandatory registration identified in Codified Ordianance section 181.23 for all residents who live in the City, as well as, all employers, contractors, and subcontractors who work in the City.

 

Owners of rental property within the City limits of Milford are required to register. Additionally, the rental property owners are required to report the occupancy or vacany of tenants to the Tax office within 30 days per section 181.22 of the Codified Ordinances.

 

Milford City Council approved the contract with the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) to administer our municipal income tax effective January 1, 2007. To obtain information for filing purposes, visit RITA’s website at:

RITA enforces our local income tax ordinance and provides enhanced services such as the ability to electronically file your tax returns. RITA also provides residents with the ability to calculate their tax liability, pay electronically using major credit or debit cards, paperless returns, and faster refunds along with a self-service 24-hour automated telephone line.

 

RITA is a non-profit government agency established almost 35 years ago under Chapter 167 of the Ohio Revised Code. Their goal is to enhance cooperation between municipalities through the sharing of facilities. RITA currently serves 120 municipalities in 38 counties throughout the State of Ohio.
