City of Milford Council
June 4,2002


The Council of the City of Milford met in Regular Session in Council Chambers at 745 Center Street at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002. Mayor Antell opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.

Roll Call: Mayor Antell, Vice-Mayor Bishop, Ms. Hinners, Mr. Metz, Mr. Gradolf, Mr. Metz, Ms. McBeath, Mr. Kolb

Reading of Minutes: Motion by Ms. Hinners and second by Mr. Gradolf to waive the reading and to approve the minutes of the May 21, 2002 Regular Meeting. Mr. Antell, Mr. Bishop, Ms. McBeath, Mr. Metz, Mr. Gradolf, Ms. Hinners voted yes. Mr. Kolb abstained.

Correspondence: None.

Proclamations: Mayor Antell presented Allan Shumard with a proclamation celebrating his 97th birthday.

Mayor Antell presented a proclamation to the Milford Area Historical Society representatives Nancy Storch and Ada Schneider.

Letter: Mayor Antell presented to Randy Vaughan, a Milford High School instructor, a letter from the Mayor of the City of Milford, Ohio, to the Mayor of Konigswinter , Germany.

Chief Lantman and Chief Cooper presented awards to Tim Harris, Sean Mahan, Charlie Evans, and Lt. Jon Frye for their heroism during the Evans Funeral Home fire.

Chief Lantman and Chief Cooper presented Meritorious Service Certificates to Paul Lane, Sgt. Terry Sparks, Julie Rymer, Tom Risk, and Ron Crider.

Standing Committee Reports
Public Services:
No report.

Administrative Services: Ms. Hinners reported the Administrative Services Committee met on May 29, 2002 at 6:05 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.

Ms. Hinners requested Council to authorize the purchase of a one-time gift to each full/part-time City employee of one "City" shirt.

Motion by Mr. Kolb and second by Mr. Metz to purchase "City" shirts. All voted yes.

Motion by Ms. Hinners and second by Ms. McBeath to draft an ordinance approving the editing and inclusion of certain ordinances as pars of the various component codes of the codified ordinances of Milford, Ohio and Declaring an Emergency. All voted yes.

Motion by Ms. Hinners and second by Mr. Kolb for an executive session to immediately follow this meeting. All voted yes.

Safety Services: Mr. Metz reported the Safety Services Committee met on May 28, 2002, at 5:05 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.

Mr. Metz reported the Committee agreed to support the concept of the City of Milford joining with other Center for Local Government police agencies to acquire a Fire Arms Training Simulator.
Mr. Metz reported a Police Services survey was included in the latest newsletter and results will be compiled and reviewed with the committee as soon as possible.

Community Development: No Report.

City Manager: Ms. Rokey reported six fire hydrants were repaired or cosmetic work performed by the Water department.

Ms. Rokey reported the Service Department has completed the curbs at the Municipal Building and the landscaping will begin in a few weeks.

Ms. Rokey reported The William Light Company has a contract to tar and chip the alleys in East Milford.

Committee Meetings

Ms. Rokey reported several reminders including: June 6th, Promont will celebrate its 35th anniversary at 6:00 p.m. June 10th at 6:00 p.m. the Parks Commission will meet in City Council Chambers. June 14th will be the 10th annual Little Miami Scenic River Challenge (clean-up).

Police Department: No report.

Fire Department and EMS: No report.

An Ordinance approving the editing and inclusion of certain ordinances as part of the various component codes of the codified ordinances of Milford, Ohio and Declaring an Emergency. Motion by Ms. McBeath and second by Mr. Metz to suspend the rules and read by title only. All voted yes. Motion by Mr. Gradolf and second by Mr. Kolb to adopt. All voted yes.

Motion by Ms. Hinners and second by Mr. Kolb to adjourn to executive session. All voted yes.

Motion by Ms. Hinners and second by Mr. Kolb to return to regular session. All voted yes.

Motion by Mr. Kolb and second by Ms. Hinners to draft an ordinance declaring the terms of the City Manager’s pay raise. All voted yes.

There being no further business to come before Council, the meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
