·The City of Milford will hold its annual Litter Collection Day on Saturday, October 4th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Gloves, bags, and safety vests will be provided to local cub scout, girl scout, high school, and community volunteers in an effort to beautify Milford. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please call (513) 248-5092.

·Many property owners are not removing their trash cans from the curb. This is becoming especially common in those neighborhoods that place cans in the alleys. City code requires residents and businesses to remove their trash and recycling receptacles from the curb or alley within 24 hours of collection. Those in violation of this ordinance may be cited by Milford Police.

·Have you ever found yourself in need of a large-item garbage sticker but unable to get to City Hall during normal working hours? If you find yourself in this predicament, please call Sara Imhulse at 248-5092. In an effort to accommodate busy schedules, the garbage department can often find alternate means to provide you with a large-item sticker.

Junk Days

The City of Milford's Junk Days are scheduled for Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18, 2003. From 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Milford residents may dispose of unwanted items free of charge by bringing them to the City Service Garage, located at 107 Race Street. Proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, etc.) is required at time of disposal.

The City will not accept hazardous waste, yard waste, tires, lead batteries, or items of a combustible nature. Appliances containing freon must have a "certification of CFC removal" tag (available at the Clermont County Engineer's office). For more information, please call 248-5092.

Beggars' Night

Beggars' Night will be celebrated from 6-8 p.m. on October 31st. As a safety measure, children should stay in a group with an adult, try not to wear dark colors, and remove face masks when walking. The Police Department recommends that a parent or guardian inspect all candy and discard any suspicious pieces. If you have any questions, call the Milford Police Department at 248-5084.

Maintenance of Leaves and Brush

·Property owners who have trees, plants, or shrubbery overhanging a public street or sidewalk must conform to the following code requirements: maintain a height of eight feet above the sidewalk surface and twelve feet above the street surface, trim or remove dead, decaying, or broken limbs, and maintain a clear and unobstructed view of traffic from all directions. Please insure that your property is in compliance.

·Leaf collection will begin in late October or early November on a daily basis. Please rake leaves to the curb without blocking storm drains. Brush collection will continue every Wednesday until November 1st, after which this service will be provided on a call-in basis only. Tree limbs and branches should be shorter that 8 feet, small bundles should be secured with twine, and all cut ends should face the curb. Any questions should be directed to the Service Department at (513) 831-7018.
