Milford Baseball Finishes #2 in State Tourney
by Valerie Miller, Milford Exempted Village School District

For the first time in school history, the Milford High School Varsity baseball team made it to the finals of the high school Division I State Tournament. In the State Finals' game on June 9th, Milford faced Cleveland St. Ignatius. Cleveland jumped out to an early lead, but the Eagles battled back. Milford trailed 10-2 at one point but rallied to bring back the game to within one run. They fell just short, losing 11-10. Up to the championship game, Milford was on an 18-game winning streak. Congratulations to the players and Coach Tom Kilgore for a great season! The Eagles posted a league record of 15-3 and were 25-6 overall for the season. The team lost two seniors this year, so the rest of the squad has high hopes of making it back to the tournament again next year.

Milford children returned to school on August 27th, and the Milford Police Department urges drivers to slow down in school zones. The speed limit in those areas is 20 mph, and officers are to strictly enforcing this speed limit.

Each year in the U.S. there are about 200-300 abductions of children by non-family members. We encourage parents to check out the following website to keep kids safe: www.missingkids.com.

Parents who have questions for the Police Department should call 248-5084.
