Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week was a great success this year, and we were happy to see the family participation during our display at Walgreen's and McDonald's. Fire Prevention Week gave us an opportunity to speak with Milford area school children about the hazards of fire. We want to thank the Milford Schools for allowing us to pick up the children in the fire trucks and bring them to the station for tours and safety demonstrations. During this week, we also hosted an open house so the community could see all of our equipment. We would like to thank Willis Freeman of Lloyd's Radiator Shop for bringing his modified racecar to the open house for the children to enjoy. The Milford Community Firefighters' Club is one of the many sponsors of Freeman Motorsports Team, driven by Ronnie Niehaus.

Home-Safety Tips for the Holidays

The Milford Community Firefighters Association is sending out our "Old Time" Seagrave to be completely refurbished. Funds were raised by our weekly Thursday-night Bingo. The improvements should be complete by the spring.

From the Police Department

The City of Milford Police Department would like to thank all the neighborhood watches, residents, schools, and merchants for a great 2001 year. During the holiday season, we will have extra patrols on in the daytime and evenings. If you see anything suspicious, or if we can assist you in any way, please call us at 248-5084 daily (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), and 825-2280 for an after-hours dispatch. As always, we would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season and a prosperous 2002.

Wallace Avenue Project Close to Completion

The maintenance and repavement project on Wallace Avenue is close to completion. The project scope included the construction of new curbs and gutters, replacement of sidewalks, placement of road base under parking lanes, repair of road base under main roadway, and placement of new asphalt surface over the entire street area. Time schedule for completion of this project is November 10, 2001. If poor weather delays paving, the project will be completed by November 15, 2001.
