"City in Bloom" Celebration at Promont

The Milford Task Force will sponsor a "Daffodil Celebration" and "Hat Parade" on April 13, 2003, from 1:30-4:00 at Promont House Museum, 906 Main Street in Milford. The public is invited.

The Task Force will provide a hot dog grill-out and lemonade for all in attendance. Those in attendance are requested to bring lawn chairs and a covered dish, if desired.

To participate in the "Hat Parade", which will commence at 2:30 on the Promont grounds, individuals need to create their own hats in a daffodil theme. A token prize will be awarded to the most creative bonnet.

Promont House Museum will also be open for touring. Completed in 1867, Promont has been listed on the National

Registry of Historic Places since 1980. It is an Italianate Victorian structure, built in 1865 by William Megrue and purchased in 1879 by John Pattison, who later became the 43rd Governor of Ohio. Promont is owned and maintained as a museum by the Greater Milford Area Historical Society.

The Milford Task Force has a long-term goal to have Milford nationally recognized as the "City in Bloom". The first phase, completed last fall, was to plant thousands of daffodils. The Daffodil Collection is being conducted to heighten awareness of City in Bloom initiatives.

About the Milford Task Force

The Milford Task Force was formed in 2001 in partnership with the City of Milford and business owners in Milford, and it operates as a sub-committee of the Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce. The objective of the group is to promote Milford, the local businesses, and the various opportunities and advantages offered by the City. The Task Force's latest project included the design and printing of a tri-fold map to highlight local businesses. The maps are part of new resident packets and are readily available at local businesses, the local hotel, City offices, the Chamber, and other areas outside the city.
