Located along the Little Miami River adjacent to the Little Miami Scenic Trail, Milford, Ohio is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. The city is pivotally located at the intersection of America’s Long Distance Trails, intersecting eight paths totaling over 22,000 miles. The trails connect in Milford and wind through the main, arterial streets and past a diverse mix of architecture, interesting shops, restaurants and along natural paths. It’s a great way to explore the many facets of Milford before you continue your adventure on one of the eight trails.
BUCKEYE TRAIL
For nearly 1,444 miles, the Buckeye Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state. From a beachhead on Lake Erie near Cleveland, to a hilltop overlooking the Ohio River in Cincinnati, a hiker can experience a little of all that Ohio has to offer.
NORTH COUNTRY NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL
The North Country Trail has 4,600 miles stretched across seven states all made possible by the hard work of more than 800 volunteers each year. This is the Great Lakes, the Northwoods, and the path of westward expansion of a footpath linking communities from New York to North Dakota.
AMERICAN DISCOVERY TRAIL
The American Discovery Trail extends over 6,800 miles of non-motorized trail connecting wilderness to city and follows the Buckeye Trail for most of its route through Ohio from Chester Hill to Eden Park in Cincinnati.
SEA TO SEA LONG DISTANCE HIKING ROUTE
The Sea-to-Sea Route connects 7,700 transcontinental miles by the International Appalachian Trail, the North Country Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Pacific Northwest Trail.
UNDERGROUND RAILROAD CYCLING ROUTE
The Underground Railroad Route passes points of interest and historic sites along a 2,008 mile corridor. Beginning in Mobile, Alabama, a busy port for slavery during the pre-civil war era, the route goes north following rivers through Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
OHIO TO ERIE CYCLING ROUTE
The Ohio to Erie Trail spans the state of Ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland following lands formerly owned by railroads and canals. Of the 453 mile length of the Ohio to Erie Trail, 262 miles are completed and open for public enjoyment, another 54 miles are either, under construction or in engineering design, and an additional 137 miles are awaiting final planning, acquisition, and funding.
LITTLE MIAMI SCENIC TRAIL
The Little Miami Scenic Trail is over 78 miles long. The trail starts at Springfield in Clark County. From there the trail runs South through Yellow Springs and Xenia in Greene County. Then the trail travels through Corwin, Oregonia, Morrow, Foster in Warren County, Loveland, Milford in Clermont County and Terrace Park in Hamilton County.
LITTLE MIAMI SCENIC RIVER
The Little Miami State and National Scenic River flows 105.5 miles through five counties in Southwestern Ohio. The scenic river offers a trip into one of Ohio’s most beautiful and historic areas. As the river twists and bends, visitors will discover many natural wonders such as steep rocky cliffs, towering sycamores and elegant great blue herons on the wing.
